FOURSEASONS · DOUBLE CHIN

Double Chin Causes

It's not just a fat problem

A double chin has many causes, including an excess fat layer,
a sagging platysma, and small clusters of fat cells
around the platysma.

That is why, along with liposuction, surgery must directly tighten the loosened platysma muscle
and remove even the deep fat layer that can only be reached by incising the platysma.

  • Cause 01 Cross-section illustration of a thick fat layer built up between the skin and muscle
    Excess fat layer
  • Cause 02 Cross-section illustration of the muscle layer stretched to both sides and sagging downward
    Platysma laxity
  • Cause 03 Cross-section illustration of small clusters of fat cells scattered above and below the muscle layer
Clusters of tiny fat cells around the platysma

If you have these symptoms, you may need it!

When excess, unnecessary fat is distributed over the face,
a double chin can make the neck look short and heavy,
and in severe cases the jawline is no longer defined, making the chin look receding.

Double Chin Muscle Plication Surgical Process

Through a minimal incision under the chin (2~3cm), we suction the subcutaneous fat between and beneath the muscles on both sides,
then pull the platysma muscles on both sides toward the center and tie them together.
By lifting the fat, muscle, and loose skin, this helps prevent sagging, addresses the root cause,
and delivers a lifting effect.

After assessing the sagging under the chin and the chin length,
a minimal incision (2~3cm) is made under the chin

Muscle layer fat granule removal

Why is removing fat granules important?

With standard liposuction, it is difficult to remove the fat beneath the skin through a cannula.

After the fat is removed through a cannula, a second step pulls out the fat granules attached to the muscle layer. This removes them thoroughly without damaging the tissue, creating a smooth jawline.

Four Seasons Double Chin Muscle Plication

Before & After A Slim, Smooth Jawline

* The before-and-after photos above show the same person.* Plastic surgery may involve risks such as bleeding, infection, and inflammation, so please be careful.

What makes Four Seasons' double chin muscle plication special

  1. Female model raising her head with a hand at her chin, showing her jawline and neckline
    Minimal scarring with a micro-incision
    01

With an incision of only about 2–3 cm under the chin, scarring is kept to a minimum. The scar is placed on the inner side of the chin, so it is barely visible unless you tilt your head back.

  2. Neck muscle illustration with both platysma muscles gathered to the center and sutured
Strengthening the platysma with muscle plication
    02

We delicately remove only the excess fat cells, then resect and tie the platysma muscle that supports the area under the chin, addressing the root cause of a double chin.

  3. Medical staff examining a patient's facial contour and consulting with them in an exam room
    Personalized 1:1 design
    03

We analyze the various causes of a double chin and create a slim facial contour with a customized design that takes each person's muscle, fat volume, and elasticity into account.

Post-Surgery Precautions

The surgical procedure is important, but aftercare is just as crucial to achieving a more satisfying result.

We hope the precautions above help you plan your surgery carefully and thoroughly.

Post-operative care is extremely important
  1. 01 To prevent infection, you must abstain from alcohol and smoking for 4 weeks.
  2. 02 Swelling is greatest for the first 2 days after surgery and then gradually subsides over the following 2–4 weeks.
  3. 03 After surgery, sit upright as much as possible and use a high pillow when sleeping to help reduce swelling.
  4. 04 For 2–3 days after surgery, apply a cold compress over thin gauze. After the stitches are removed, a warm compress is recommended.
  5. 05 Stitches are removed on day 7. For 2 days after removal, take care not to let water touch the wound.
  6. 06 Avoid positions that tilt your neck back or bend it forward excessively for 2 months.
  7. 07 Avoid strenuous exercise for 2 months. Light exercise is possible from 2 weeks after surgery.
