Full Post-Velody Precautions
Swelling
- Swelling varies from person to person.
- Swelling is at its worst for the first 3 days after surgery and gradually subsides over 2–4 weeks.
- On the day of surgery, stay seated as much as possible and avoid bending your head down or lying face down. When sleeping, propping yourself up on 2–3 pillows helps reduce swelling and pain.
- For one month, do not turn your head to the side or lie on your stomach while sleeping. It's best to sleep lying flat on your back.
Compresses
- To reduce swelling quickly, please apply cold compresses frequently after surgery. Placing an ice pack directly on the skin risks frostbite, so apply it over a thin piece of medical gauze (or a thin handkerchief if you have no gauze).
Care
- For one week, avoid excessive movement of the facial muscles and touching your face with your hands.
- For 2 months, avoid strong massages such as meridian massage.
- Counting from the day of surgery, wear the compression band for one day. For the following month, wear it outside of sleeping hours, for only about 3–4 hours at a time. (Wearing it while sleeping or for long periods can impair circulation and cause more swelling, so please wear it with breaks in between.)
Suture Removal
- Stitches are removed after 3 days. (There are no stitches with one-day Velody surgery.)
Prescribed Medication
- Be sure to take the medication prescribed by the clinic after surgery.
- For one week after stitch removal, apply a small amount of Neosiderm (Fucidin) with a cotton swab twice a day (morning and evening), just enough that the wound does not dry out. Applying too much may cause the wound to become macerated.
- To prevent bleeding, painkillers such as aspirin, vitamins, red ginseng, juices and extracts, omega-3, propolis, and hormonal medications such as oral contraceptives may be taken only one week after all treatment has ended.
- If pain at the surgical site is severe even after taking the prescribed medication, you may take one additional Tylenol tablet.
No Alcohol / No Smoking
- Do not drink alcohol or smoke for 2 months after surgery. Alcohol and cigarettes cause inflammation and delay wound healing.
Face Washing
- You may wash your face starting 2 days after suture removal.
- Until the sutures are removed, take care not to let water get into the surgical area.
Makeup
- On the day of the procedure, a simple sunscreen is fine, but please avoid heavy makeup.
Exercise
- Light walks help swelling go down faster.
- Please resume all exercise, including golf, gym workouts, swimming, and saunas, only after 4 weeks have passed since surgery.
