Full Post-Fat Grafting Precautions
Compresses
- It is best not to apply cold compresses.
No Alcohol / Smoking / Dieting
- To prevent infection, you must avoid alcohol and smoking for 4 weeks.
- Drinking alcohol, smoking, and dieting have the worst effect on fat graft survival.
Swelling
- Swelling varies from person to person.
- Swelling is at its worst for the first 2 days after surgery and then subsides gradually over 2–4 weeks.
- On the day of surgery, sit upright as much as possible, avoid bending your head down or lying face down, and sleep with 2-3 pillows propped under you, which helps reduce swelling and pain. Also, do not turn your head to the side or lie on your stomach; it is best to sleep lying flat on your back.
Prescribed Medication
- Be sure to take the medication prescribed by the clinic after surgery.
- To prevent bleeding, painkillers such as aspirin, vitamins, red ginseng, juices and extracts, omega-3, propolis, and hormonal medications such as oral contraceptives may be taken only one week after all treatment has ended.
- If pain at the surgical site is severe even after taking the prescribed medication, you may take 1 additional Tylenol tablet (up to 5 tablets per day).
Suture Removal
- Stitches at the fat harvest site are removed after 7 days.
Ointment Application
- Regeneration tape cannot be applied to the hairline punch sites, so please apply Neosiderm (Fucidin) ointment well instead.
Exercise
- Light walks help swelling go down faster.
- Light exercise is possible starting 2 weeks after surgery.
Face Washing / Showering
- You may wash your face starting 1 day after surgery, with regeneration tape in place over the fat injection sites. Take care not to irritate the injection areas. The regeneration tape should stay on for 2 days.
- You may shower starting 2 days after stitch removal. Before stitch removal, a brief shower is possible after applying waterproof tape; please avoid hot water. Waterproof tape can be purchased at a pharmacy.
Care
- For 1 month, avoid strong massages such as meridian massage or touching with your hands, as well as laser treatments, and refrain from wearing tight-fitting hats. The forehead area may be bumpy right after the procedure until it settles, and it will gradually return to normal, so there is no need to worry.
- Micro fat grafting involves harvesting only a small amount of fat, so the risk is minimal. However, if inflammation develops before the grafted tissue has taken hold, part of the graft may not survive. Please follow the precautions above carefully.
Second Fat Grafting Session
- The second session is most effective for graft survival when performed within 2–3 months after your follow-up check. Any remaining fat is discarded after 3 months.
